You can set your favorite audio track as default audio track in VLC by following some below ways with simple setting or advanced setting.
Simple Setting
- Open VLC player
- Click on Tools
- Select Preferences
- Choose Simple settings
- Now select the Audio tab
- Now Enter in Preferred audio language
- Enter language code in the input field text for example:
- English: eng
- Japanese: jpn
- Spanish: spa
- You can get language code from here: http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php
- Enter language code in the input field text for example:
- Set subtitle preference.
- If you want to set default subtitle track,
- Click on Subtitle tab
- Enter your language code
- You can found code list here: http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php
- Click on Save
- Restart VLC
Advanced setting
- Open VLC player
- Click on Tools
- Select Preferences
- Choose All Settings
- Select Input/Codecs
- Change Audio Track number
- If you have 2 audio tracks either 0 or 1 will be correct. 0 is the automatic track when you reset preferences.
- If you have multiple tracks you need to experiment to find exact.
- Try entering a language.
- You should enter language code.

- Change subtitle track number
- Try to experiment with different numbers.
- Click Save
- Restart VLC
